As more new bloggers enter the blogosphere, it seems that blogging has become more difficult and competitive to stand out!
But, that doesn’t mean that blogging isn’t effective.
It just means you need to care for your blog a little differently than you had been doing in the past.

Here are 5 ways to make your blog stand out from the crowd:
1. Blog Design
You can get a professional-looking theme from Elegant Themes or Theme Forest for just under $30, or if you want to take your blog to the next level, use Thesis or Genesis framework that comes under just $100.
No matter which theme you choose, I suggest you customize it to fit your requirements.
If you are technologically-challenged, you can have a custom-built design from a designer.
If your blog is a business blog, then strive to reach that point no matter how costly it could be.

2. Turn Your Blog Social
Although it may sound a little bit old to you, if your people don’t find a way to share your content, they won’t.
Tens of millions of people are using Facebook, Stumbleupon, Digg, and Twitter every day.
Isn’t it sensible to put your content in front your people’s eyes?
And, here are few free plugins that I use to share my content on my WordPress-based site:
- Facebook Like Button: Almost every blog I came across used this plugin to share their content
- Sexy Bookmarks: Not only installing and using this plugin is easy and great, but it also lets you add wide variety of social sharing sites.
If you are not on WordPress, no problem!
There are other versions of these plugins for almost every blogging platform.

3. Take an Angle
If you visit any blog on popular topic, like social media for instance, you will feel there is a lot of competition and popular blogs established around it.
Same goes with every other popular niche out there.
Instead of competing against them and talking always about the ordinary topic, would it not be smart to take a stand on something different and give people something to think about?
You can do a great job by taking a snarky take on topics of online marketing, or write something with your “not a pro” stance on blogging.
Although there are only few people going to dominate a niche, including Chris Brogan, Mitch Joel, and Jay Baer, but if you’re open to take a stance on subjects that’s not ordinary, you’re going to make your blog stand out.
For example, if you sell nutrition products, do not mention about the business about nutrition products.
Instead, talk about its effect on the body and how these products can help improve your overall muscle, fat, strength, and power.
Pick a stance, and share your own unique point of view!

4. Use Infographics and Graphics
Most people won’t read a 2,000 product review, however, if you have taken time to insert infographs on your blog, all of a sudden you create a piece of content that would be evergreen.
If you can’t find Infographics, then do take time to find and insert quality images for your blog content.

5. Create Pillar Content
Pillar content offer value to readers 24/7, it doesn’t matter whether it was written 5 years ago or yesterday.
For example, the fundamentals of search engine optimization (SEO) haven’t changed over time, have they?
Same is true for any other niche.
Why pillar content is important?
Pillar articles will help you bring more visitors to your site with the same old content, and you don’t even have to cover the same topic over and over again.
Further, pillar articles are also great for long-term traffic and search engine rankings.
