Benefits of Affiliate Marketing

As an affiliate, you get paid by the merchant for your services. They pay you a commission every time you refer a visitor to the merchant’s site or/and the visitor purchase something. Becoming an affiliate is also easy and quick. Most affiliate programs are free to sign up too.

Despite all these great benefits, many people still hesitate to sign up to affiliate marketing. Why?

As an affiliate, you get paid by the merchant for your services.

Well, one of the many reasons why many people hesitate simply because they do NOT have a website to market their affiliate products.

Do you really need a website in affiliate marketing business?

Many people will tell you that one can do affiliate marketing even WITHOUT a website.

There are strategies that can help you become a successful marketers even without a website. For example, you can promote merchant’s products through email-marketing, writing eBooks, offline promotions, writing ezines, and engaging prospects through online discussions such as forums, message boards, chats, and other options.

BEST Alternatives to Having Your Own Website

#1) Use Email Marketing

Email marketing, or building email lists, is the number 1 affiliate marketing strategy that does NOT require the affiliate to have his/her own website.

In this affiliate marketing strategy, all you do is maintain an e-mail list of your prospective customers. Then you send articles relevant to your affiliate products and services you are promoting.

Articles that you send to your prospects via email need NOT always be promotional, as many people find such emails annoying.Instead, it would be awesome if you offer them something useful and relevant content and insert text ads that will redirect them to your merchant’s site.

#2) Do Offline Promotion

There are number of ways you can promote your affiliate products and services offline. The most commonly used medium for offline promotions are brochures, classified ads, and flyers.

Compared to the other two, classified ads usually work better because classified ads in periodicals often get a wider exposure.

#3) Writing Free e-Books

If you love writing, creating an e-book can also be one of the best way for you to promote your affiliate products and services if you do not have your own website.

Just like in newsletters and emails, your prospects would respond better to your eBook if it is NOT highly promotional but rather useful and informative. However, make sure to the content of your e-books is relevant to the actual affiliate products you are promoting. And similar to email marketing, you can place text ads or banners at the end of your eBook linking to your merchant’s website.

#4) Writing Free Ezines

Don’t know what ezines are? Well, they are articles that inform people about a particular topic, niche, or market.

If you do not have your own website set up and want to become an affiliate marketer, you can submit your articles to ezines promoting your affiliate products or inserting ‘links’ to your merchant’s site.

If you have your own website, you can use those articles as content for your site. However, if you do not, simply submit your articles to different ezines such as ezinearticles.com, goarticles.com, and others.

#5) Online Discussions (Forums, Message Boards, Chats, etc.)

If you do NOT have your own website, join online discussions because they are excellent place for marketing your affiliate products. You can find topics related to your products on forums, chats, message boards, and discussion boards, and easily find people who may be interested in your affiliate products.

Conclusion: Do You Really Need a Website?

With all these awesome strategies at your fingertips, it may seem that you really do NOT need your own website to start your affiliate marketing journey. Starting an affiliate marketing career without a website may be possible, and most of the time easy, however, becoming successful WITHOUT a website is something different.

While it is true that one can make significant profits in affiliate marketing even without a website, it is very rare that “newbie” affiliate marketers like you can reach the same levels of success.

Having a website in affiliate marketing is NOT mandatory, unless otherwise the web merchant explicitly require you to have one. Even if that was true, I would still suggest that you have your own website. (Check out my article on How to Make a Blog.)

If not now, then maybe soon!

This is because having a website offers you a lot of benefits in affiliate marketing model.

  1. Firstly, it offers you a space where you can creatively promote not just one of your affiliate products, but all of your affiliate products.
  2. Secondly, with your own website, you can also advertise your affiliate products to a wider market.

Again, I would like to repeat that having a website is not necessary in affiliate marketing. But with all the benefits that a website can offer you, I would rather have a website for myself and make affiliate marketing a lot easier for me.
