Here are few easy steps you need to take to make a blog in WordPress:

Step #1: Web Hosting

If you require UNLIMITED storage, bandwidth, and domains for personal- and business-use, I highly recommend you “purchase” them at (affiliate link)

Step #2: Choose a Domain Name

Many people, particularly the beginners, argue that you do not need to buy a domain name in order to blog.

I disagree!

Of course, you can have your own sub-domain like “” or “”.

Both are FREE and they offer you UNLIMITED web hosting.

That’s awesome, as you’ll save money.

However, don’t you think this URL is long and hard to remember for your visitors?

Wouldn’t it be nice if you have a short and simple domain name like “” that your visitors can easily remember?

Until your site starts to see HUGE traffic to your site!

They simply won’t be able to handle all those traffic loads.

And guess what?

Your site will take a LOT of time to load, which, of course, gives your visitors a bad user experience.

To purchase a domain name for your blog, you can visit two wonderful places and both offer equally impressive domain name services.

1) NameCheap: As the name suggest, they offer cheap domain name, (under $10) for .com, .net, and .org.

For “.info” domains, it’s only $4 dollar. Check out my review on NameCheap to learn about its features, benefits, and other helpful information to help you make a smart decision.

2) Godaddy: Is another reliable domain name provider for most Internet marketers. Check out my personal review on Godaddy in order to learn more about the domain name service provide.

Or, visit Godaddy to buy a cheap domain name(s) now.

Step #3: Download

Once you have bought a personal domain name and web hosting, the next step for you to do is to download free blogging software, such as WordPress, that quickly allows you to make a professional-looking blog… with just a “click” of a button.

  • Visit … and download the latest version (FREE) on your computer.
  • Or, you can just skip this step and install WordPress directly from your web host (see the instructions below).

Step #4: Installing

cmsThere are three ways to install WordPress on your Web host.

  1. Web Host CPanel
  2. Manually
  3. Installation via FTP

The easiest way for you to install WordPress on your web host is through your Web Hosting Control Panel (CPanel).

It only takes 5 minutes to make a WordPress blog on your web serve.

If you have any trouble installing WordPress on your server, please LEAVE A COMMENT below and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Step #5: Activate WordPress

Once you’ve installed WordPress on your Web Host, you will ‘view’ it online by typing your URL on the web browser to see how it looks.

WordPress comes with a built-in FREE theme.

They have several different themes such as “Twenty-Ten,” “Twenty Eleven,” “Twenty-Twelve,” and now recently, they have launched “Twenty Sixteen,” which you can use it for your blog.

You need to activate the theme in order to see it working.

Here’s how you activate a WordPress theme:

  1. Login to your WordPress dashboard (with your admin username and password)
  2. Under “Appearance” tab in the left sidebar, click on Themes
  3. Select the theme you want to install, and click “Activate” to see your theme in action

There is a lot of debate going whether you should use a FREE WordPress template or invest in a Premium WordPress template, particularly when you’re just starting out.

If you are a business owner and want to make a quick impression on your visitors with creative, customized, and professional-looking designs, then I highly recommend you choose Premium WordPress themes for your site.

The benefits of choosing Premium WordPress theme over FREE WordPress site are numerous:

  1. Premium WordPress theme are MORE customized
  2. They have tons of features
  3. You can create a professional-looking site within minutes
  4. They have 24/7 support
  5. Premium WordPress theme are more SEO-friendly

But if you’re just starting out, or want to blog for personal use and don’t want to look like a professional, then it’s OKAY for you to choose FREE WordPress theme for your site.

Step #6: WordPress Customization

After WordPress installation, check out your site on the browser by typing your website URL.

It doesn’t look pretty, does it?

I mean all those dummy posts, pages, comments, and links at the sidebar.

They were meant for demonstration purpose only.

Since your site is unique and different, you don’t want to put them on it.

So your next step would be to REMOVE all these texts, links, comments, and pages.

To remove these dummy contents:

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard
  2. Through left sidebar, click on “Pages”
  3. Check all dummy page to remove it once and for all
  4. Follow the same steps to remove dummy posts, links, comments, and menus by visiting respective section through the left sidebar

Step #7: Home Page Customization

If you’ve visited blogs, you’ll often come across a site that lists their recent post on their home page.

It works great for blogging purpose.

However, if you are a small business organization, you don’t want to show a “welcome” message, along with various services you offer in a simple way to your visitors.

So, you need display a separate page for home page.

If you don’t know how to do this, please leave me a comment below.

I will try to answer your questions, individually.

Step #8: Create Your First Page/ Blog on WordPress

Once you’ve removed all those dummy texts, you’ll now have a clean site.

But there won’t be any content.

So, you may want to create few page (home, about us, services, contact us), or your very first blog posts, custom menu, and check them out on the web browser.
