Knowing what you visitors, or potential customers, are searching for and then offering them what they’re looking for is the sure-fire ways to become successful online.

Google will then list all relevant sites that contain this specific keyword in their web pages, and hence, I can get the most useful information that teaches me how to perform keyword research.

- Once you know what your customers are interested, you can then create new content around those search phrases, optimize it, and offer valuable information that solves their pressing problem.
- Offering useful and optimized information for your users will help you seem as an industry expert. As a result, they’ll “trust” your resources, visit back to your site often, and hopefully “buy” what you have to promote or sell.
How to do keyword research using Google Suggest tool (free)?
There are plenty of free keyword research tool for SEO (I have written another article on how to keyword using keyword planner tool), but for the sake of this article, I’ll show you how to find profitable keyword list using Google Suggest too because it doesn’t require you to sign up for anything as well as download any time consuming software tool.
- Visit Google.com
- Type your head term (root keyword) in the search engine. For example, type “keyword research” and see what appears as suggestion.
- As you can see in the screenshot below, there are several keywords, or long tail keywords, that Google suggests for you. The best part is that these long tail keywords are they’ve extremely popular and highly searched (Google displays them to make their users easy to find what they may be looking at).
- If you’re using QWERTY keyword, keep on typing each letter after your head term. For example, I would type ‘a’ and see what appears. If nothing appears, I move on and type another key – i.e. ‘s,’ on the QWERTY keywords, you see? This way, you’ll likely come across plenty of keywords may be hidden from a general searchers but could be extremely popular. If you used Google Keyword Planner to find keyword, you could miss several keywords there. But if you follow this strategy using Google Suggest, you’ll find hidden gems that are worth targeting after.
- Once you have a decent number of hidden keyword list, go on doing more keyword research by typing all the key on your keyboard. I know it’s hectic and cumbersome, but the time spent on learning how to do keyword research will pay you big time. You’ll likely rank for keyword phrase that nobody knows about and quietly make hundreds of dollars without having to compete with anyone out there. Gotcha?
*Note: If you want to check the competition of each keyword, make sure to include a “quotation” around your keywords. This way, you’ll get exact number of other competing websites who are using the exact keyword phrase to rank in the 1st page of Google.
